For anyone who wants a pure Bollywood experience.
The Raj Mandir Theatre beats every other cinema hands down for ambiance and energy. Not only do they play the Indian national anthem before the start of every film, but during the three hour Bollywood Blockbuster, expect the crowd to start cheering when the hero is winning the fight and the locals to start applauding when the guy gets the girl at the end.
It opened in 1976, seats over 1,200 people and sells our regularly. Nicknamed “The Pride of Asia”, the pink Art Deco-inspired palace is more like amphitheatre than a cinema.
Tickets start at just ₹120 (€1.60) and the most expensive tickets are ₹400 (€5.50). With the cheapest tickets you’ll be down in the stalls with the cheering locals and with the expensive tickets you’ll be on a balcony overlooking the spectacle. If you have time to kill in Jaipur – definitely experience both!
